On 4/28 (Sunday morning) I had some customers down from Canyon Lake. Lee and Laura were excited to get out on the water, and I was too...until I got to Matagorda and saw 25 mile East winds, rain, and lightning. The water was extremely muddy and dirty and it looked like chocolate milk. We sat at the harbor talking and waiting for the storm to clear. You could tell in the distance that it was almost over and I told them that I wasn't backing down. We were going to try to put something together so we could get on some fish. We arrived at the first location, got set up and started casting away. I had them on live shrimp under a Mid Coast popping cork. We kept fishing and fishing...and I was started to get disappointed when, all of a sudden, I look over and Laura's rod is bent over and her drag starts to scream! I knew this had to be a good one and as it got closer, I could see the shadow of it....26" Trout!! She fought it until it finally tired out, bringing in the biggest trout she has ever caught!
Laura was so excited about her 26" trout!
As the day went on, we made several drifts picking up a fish here and there...ending the day with a decent box of fish considering the weather and water conditions. They both had a great time out on the water and are already planning their next trip back down for some fishing in Matagorda!
Summer is right around the corner, and the fishing is about to get HOT! Let me know if you'd like to book a trip...weekends fill up the fastest and I would hate for you to miss the fishing this summer! Call me at 979-479-4801 to get your spot reserved!
